White Tigerzord – Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Legacy

I have been watching this guy sit on the shelves of Toys R Us for a very long time. Finally this past week my local TRU put it on clearance. It was as if the stars had aligned just for me. Discounted from $79.99 to $39.99, and I had a $10 off reward, so I got it for $29.99 with tax. What a deal. The amazingly high prices of the past Power Rangers toys has really kept me out of that market, really only going back to Power Rangers Samurai, except for all of the Red Rangers being released a few years back. I have also been able to get my hands on a few of the MMPR Rangers as they have come out in the triangle boxes.

This is a great first foray into the original (U.S.) series. White Tigerzord is so strong and well made. It looks so accurate to the original from the show. I think the feet really win me over on this one. It seems that Super Sentai always gave their mecha robust legs and feet, and they really pulled it off here.

The paint is outstanding. From the great contrast of the white and black, to the touches of gold, silver and metallic red.

The transformation into Tiger Mode is fairly easy and straightforward.  It is clear that they did a great job over at Bandai getting him ready for multiple combinations.  There are unused moving parts all over this guy.

The only thing I don’t really like are the tiny back legs. It is hard to make something strong and robust when it comes out of another part of the body.

Overall, a great Zord. I cannot wait to get my hands on the Dino Megazord that came out before, and the Thunder Megazord that will be coming out some time in 2016. I will probably jump on Thunder Megazord much more quickly since I have something to combine it with now.

Plesio Charge Megazord – Power Rangers Dino Super Charge

PC Megazord is fantastic. He comes with so many pieces, and creates his own Zord without having to add any other Zords. This is similar to the Ptera Zord that can also stand alone. That really helps the fighting of the bad guys when more Zords can show up to be in the fight.

It is clear which iteration of the show he belongs to, with the giant gold dino face across his chest. The color scheme on him is fantastic. Clearly a look a the color wheel was taken to match the gold with the purple. Add in some black and white, and you have a good combo all around. There is just a touch of red around the face to give a little touch of extra, and to nod to the later Plesio Charge Megazord: Pachy-Rex Formation which includes the red Rexy.

He has one extra piece that is the head of the Plesio and can form a giant blaster on one arm. Fear not. He does come with two hands, and does not need to head to be attached at all times. The extra hand, or both hands can be stored against the back of the leg. It turns out to be a great hiding spot since he has so much bulk behind him anyway.

There is a lot of movement of parts to get him transformed into the spaceship.  When all is said and done, he makes a great looking ship too.   Inserting a charger into the mouth, opens a cannon array on the back of the neck. You can alway use extra firepower.   Similar to Rexy, when the charger is in the Plesio’s mouth, the mouth can fully close.

Of course, things cannot stop at a zord and that is all. They have to combine in some way. When we first saw Rexy, he had to be combined with two other Zords to form Megazord. PC Megazord can definitely stand on his own, and is quite a brute to boot. Well, we add a little Rexy, and a touch of the Pachy Zord, and what we end up with is the Plesio Charge Megazord: Pachy-Rex Formation. This is no small feat of connection. There are pieces moved all about. Rexy becomes the lower torso and waist. Plesio rotates and moves so much that his legs become the new shoulders to attach big arms onto. His cannon becomes one arm, and Pachy Zord becomes the other.

The directions are really good, and all of the parts of Rexy and Plesio are used, except for where to stick Dino Charge Megazord’s helmet. It can actually attach inside of Plesio’s cannon.

This is a good time to talk about the mis-colored Pachy Zord. I have talked about it before, and liked the nod to the Dino Thunder color scheme. I actually like it even more now, since Pachy matches the Plesio, and the graphite color of the original version doesn’t match.

In this new formation, he is huge. He is tall, think Rexy with a tall head on top, and Plesio’s feet added to the bottom of Rexy’s. He is wide, shoulders out to there. And he is long. Rexy keeps his head and tail to make the full length.

And let’s not forget what is best about all of the different lines of Power Rangers… the heads of the Zords.   Some have great heads, some have awesome hats.  The Pachy-Rex Formation is no different.   It looks like two sides of jaws opening to reveal this great new head.  It is actually the back of Plesio’s head turned around.

Standing with the other two Megazords, he is not super extra huge compared to them, but he does have a little extra height in the head.   This guy is a great addition to the team.  He is big and powerful, and a lot of fun to play with.   He is substantial, but is so well designed that he stays together while being played with.
