I finally found the last of the Dinobots before they go extinct. This line is hopefully done and gone, and we can get back to the really good figures of the Generations line, and get ready for the new show. Today we are going to look at Snarl. He is overall a very good figure. There are a few flaws that seem like they should have been easily fixed, but that doesn’t always happen.
Quite possibly the best paint ever! The green of his body is a pearl green color. It picks up a lot of yellow hues, and looks a lot like the clear green/yellow of his spikes. He has a very good mix of green plastic, painted green, grey, and clear parts spread throughout.
The one problem I have with the dino mode is the shield accessory he comes with. It folds in half, and is supposed to be added to his back to make a pair of really tall spikes. There is a post on the bottom that is supposed to fit into his back. The problem is that the hole is right at a seam, and it does not stay together very well, so the spikes continuously fall out.
He has a good dino head. The mouth opens, and it has some good articulation. The silver on the snout is a bit off. There is not a single place on the entire rest of the robot that also has silver. It would have made so much more sense for it to be painted purple, or grey.
In robot mode, he is equally as impressive paint-wise. Snarl practically glows with all of the clear plastic around him. He has the tell-tale pointy shoes that tells he is a part of the movie Dinobot line. His tail becomes a mace for one hand, and he has a sort of shield for the other. It looks like the two parts can combine to form a secondary weapon.
One strange part of his body is how his head folds into one of his legs. To make it look symmetrical, they put a false head in the other leg. It seems a bit weird to me. I think it would have been better to have a more solid leg on that side.
The one real problem I have with Snarl is with his hands. His wrists are swivels, and cannot move up and down. They are forced to stay at this really weird angle all the time.
Even with some strangeness going on with Snarl, I think he stands out as one of the best in the line. He is unique to the others, and stands apart with all of the clear parts. Though he has some shortcomings, I think overall he is a good figure to pick-up.
