Star Wars Black Series – Han Solo

With the great success I found in the Boba Fett Black Series action figure, I figured it was time to go again.  This time I went for the scruffy looking Nerf Herder hinself, Han Solo.

I was instantly impressed by the large selection of accessories he comes with.  His standard belt and gun, as well as a Strom Trooper belt and gun.   He also comes with an extra set of hands with flying gloves on.   His alternate right hand is posed the same as the standard hand, ready to hold his gun.  The left had varies from his standard hand, looking more like he is about to grab something.

I don’t know if there is anything they could have done to make this a better figure.  He looks fantastic.  The paint is great, and it looks like hm.  He has good articulation (not as good as the Marvel Legends, but I don’t think Han was that flexible anyway).

Boba Fett seems slightly shorter.  I am not sure if we ever really see them face to face, so I cannot guess as to how well this size matches up to “real life.”   This, being my second figure, is definitely making me keep my eyes open for more.

Star Wars Scoundrels – Book Review

Timothy Zhan pulls out another fun book.  Best known for the Thrawn Trilogy, he returns in this one-shot story to continue filling in the time gaps in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Star Wars meets Ocean’s 11. Han Solo and Chewbacca plan a heist to recover credits from some bad people for a guy they don’t really know. Turns out they are in over their head as they discover the people they are up against are none other than Black Sun.
Taking place after the events of A New Hope, Han and Chewie are on their own since there is no real Jedi presence to get them out of the trouble they are inevitably going to end up in.
Less of a science fiction story, and more of a crime story, that follows the hand-picked team as they have to infiltrate an impenetrable building, to get past innumerable guards, to finally face an indestructible safe. Definitely a challenge for someone who is a smuggler, not a thief. Add in the fact that an old “friend,” Lando Calrissian, makes an unexpected appearance. Leading to the future confrontation on Cloud City? You bet!
A fun read that will keep you guessing, and explain some of the excitement between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes back.
