A friend of mine is moving from here in California, out to Colorado. In an effort to make his move easier, he began a purging process, which included some of his Ame-Comi and Bishoujo figures. That is to my befit, as I am not in the mood to purge, and actually very accepting of hand-outs.
Today is a 2008 classic, Huntress. She is decked out in an amazing layer of cloth and leather.
The details are quite spectacular on this figure. I am sure the Ame-Comi team had a great time sculpting this one.
She is pretty angry looking. Watch out for her vengeance as well as her cross-bows.
I was pretty sure we were done with Ame-Comi. The last few waves of figures were pretty unappealing. I actually skipped a whole bunch of the figures that were repaints and just not that good looking. Now apparently Ame-Comi is back, and with Batgirl, AND in a steampunk variety to boot!
She looks good. I am definitely in! I hope there are going to be some other figures to go with her in this style. A Green Lantern would be cool, maybe Wonder Woman.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. Here is a little review of the Ame-Comi Wonder Woman Version 3.
This time decked out in armor, and headgear, she looks like a futuristic version of herself. Very “anime” this time around, with a great unique costume and giant eyes.
Thank goodness the bad guys always seem to shoot at her upper torso, so those gauntlets come in handy.
The only area I saw some imperfection was between the arms and the armor. The color of blue is off a bit. Could be due to one being armor and the other being the fabric of her sleeves. In the immortal words of Napoleon Dynamite, “I like you puffy sleeves.”
All the way down to those great boots. She has some really great details on her.
With her versions 1 and 2 alternate bodies. I think DC did a good job of coming up with three very unique designs for their Wonder Women. Each has a different design to their costumes, but all keep that Wonder Woman quality. So weather it is cutting the head off Medusa, or fighting something in the near future, she still keeps her look. A very nice addition to the collection.
As always, look to the right column for the Flickr area to see even more pictures.—->
Last week I picked up the Ame-Comi Mini Series 3 Hawkgirl. I was not so interested in the first wave of the figures, as I think the size reduction did not do the figures any favors. This one was a little different though.
She has a great unique pose where it looks like she is getting ready to pick her mace up off the ground. This gives her a fun action pose that allows for a different attachment point to the base.
In her smaller version, she has much smaller wings. Going for a more compact design, but no less detail. The feathers are outstanding. She has on the same outfit as her larger version counterpart.
I like the whimsical nature of the one foot being kicked out, like a 40’s era end-of-the-movie kiss.
Her hair is again long in this version, going away from the standard for her comic counterpart. With the long braid and the flowing cloth, we are able to see much of her movement, as well as in the asymmetry of the wings.
All in all, a good figure. Well designed with a great pose. Good sculpt and really nice paint. It is a little tricky to get her facing the right way since she is attached to the mace and the mace is attached to the ground. All parts swivel, so you can get her in some really gravity defying poses trying to get her to look right. But that is some of the fun of the figure.
