Sergeant Kup is exactly what I would want from this guy. He is so plain and utilitarian, and it is great. So many of the Transformers in the Titans Return line, as well as the previous Combiner Wars line, had such amazingly detailed molding. Kup didn’t have to be any different, but he was looked at as the character that he is, and it demanded a simpler design.
Kup is an old man, thus he does not have all of the bells and whistles that the newer Transformers have, and he probably likes it that way. The design of his arms, legs and simple torso have everything Kup needs, and nothing extra.
He comes with two pistols that can port into his back. Yay for being able to carry your own weapons. And it look okay back there too.
Of course he would like to be able to use them at some point too, and they look great in his hands. In all of the previous version of Kup, he was given a more rifle like blaster, but we can go with pistols too.
He comes with his Titan Maser, Flintlock. As usual, there was some copyright problem, and Hasbro could not use his original name of Recoil, from when he was a Targetmaster. Now he turns into a head rather than a gun, and his colors have been altered for this go around.
Transforming Kup into truck mode is fun, with some interesting transformations. When all is said and done, the truck looks like the G1 version. A little updated, and an actual cockpit to ride in. Pretty slick overall.
The guns can be mounted in ports behind the front wheels for some forward usage. They stick out a bit like any of the guns that mount on the sides of vehicles.
There are also ports on the bed of the truck to allow the guns to be stored. In the forward position, they fit nice and tight with the back of the cab.
The fun begins with the guns are flipped around. Two Titan Masters can stand back there and wield the guns, making anyone who is chasing this team think twice before continuing the pursuit.
Kup is fantastic. He is a standout among the series, not because of how detailed he is, but how simple everything is. He is a lot of fun and welcome to the team.
