I went away for a two-week vacation to Europe, and now I am back to look at the final wave of the three Marvel Legends super photo shoot. Today we are going to look at the Thanos Wave. This is a great wave of really nice figures. From the massive Hulk to some pretty ladies, and Batrok thrown in there for fun. Let’s go!
Iron Man got his own earlier review here. It seems only fitting for Tony to be out of the box before the others get their chance.
Gotta love the size. They smushed him into that packaging to get the Hulk to fit. He comes with Thanos’ arm.
He as such great details. He is wearing his newly acquired Age of Ultron stretchy pants. Thank goodness Bruce doesn’t have to track down new pants any more.It is amazing that these two figures could come in the same size box. They really had to work hard to get Hulk in there. His size is amazing. Larger than the BAF Thanos actually.
We have seen this before. A new paint scheme on a Cap. We get a few extra hands, unmasked head, and Thanos’ leg.Shhh. One of his extra hands is a pointing finger, but it could also be a shushing finger too. Don’t say bad words, or so the gag went through most of the movie.
Two punching hands make for great hands to create scenes. These are a great addition to the set.
Can’t forget the salute hand. It could also be a chopping hand, but we don’t see Cap karate chopping too many bad guys.
If you are going to have a modern movie comic figure, you have to have much of the movie without his helmet/mask on, or so say the movie makers.
Batrok is a new character for me. I love the idea and look of him. Looking at the Marvel Database, he seems to have connections to just about everyone, so he fits right into this wave. He comes with Thanos’ torso and collar.
That color scheme stands out so much. I love that the he would think this is a good outfit for robbing people.
A little bit French, and a little bit Wolverine. I absolutely love his head sculpt.
Another character I don’t know much about. Looks like she has been around for just about forever. Plain yellow outfit with painted on eyebrows. Looks like she could fit in with Batman pretty well. She comes with a baton (Daredevil), along with Thanos’ head and arm.
Hellcat’s paint is not the best. She has some orange highlights on her yellow outfit that can be a little hit or miss. There is also a bit of weakness on the yellow below the knees. Yellow should never go over blue. They should have sculpted the part in yellow, and then painted blue boots. Oh well.
Her head sculpt is okay. Pretty plain. She is not my favorite character of the wave.
One of my favorites. This costume of Jessica’s is the best. She comes with two sets of armpit webs for arms out or arms in. She also comes with the head and arm of Thanos that Hellcat comes with. At least this way you get to choose the best head to put on Thanos.
Arms out, the removable wings look great. She is a great sculpt overall. The paint overall is well done too. There were only some problems with the black stripes between the red and yellow sections. Easy enough to touch-up.
Arms down, the other set of wings work well too.
Now THIS is how you head sculpt…and hair sculpt. Jessica looks beautiful.
Thanos all put together. He is a lot of figure. Hefty. I was glad to have the two head sculpts to choose from. One was a lot better than the other.
All seven figures in their plastic glory. I am still amazed at Hulk’s size. Thanos better watch out. How is it that Batroc was the only one to look at the camera. One of those things of only seeing through the small camera screen.
Finally done with the three waves of Marvel Legends. That was a lot of figures to try to get standing. Of course by this time of the day, the wind started to blow. I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to get the shot.
This was quite an undertaking to get all of the figure shot. And now here we are with Ant-Man coming out, both the movie and the ML wave. I am looking forward to what comes next.
Up next, we are going to look at some Legion Class Transformers. I was on a holiday in Europe for two weeks, and I brought along a couple of little guys. We did a shoot on a 1900 year old Roman wall in York. That was a lot of fun.
