We have the same main characters, Lion-O, Cheetara, Tigra, and the yet to be seen Panthro (as of the end of the premiere). In addition we have met WilyKit and WilyKat as well as the ever loving Snarf.
So far in the show we have such a greater depth of character, a better setting, and lots and lots of bad guys. Mumm-Ra looks to be up to his bad deeds once again, collecting some of the baddies we loved as kids.
There were people who were skeptical about the changes to Lion-O. He is a younger self, not the full grown lion in the original. Of course with that, they did away with the strangeness of a kid being stuck in an adult’s body.
I am really looking forward to this series. It started off well, with lots of good action, and they put it on at night, so they don’t have to pull punches. We are going to get a bit more of the punch in the mouth fighting we get with the Clone Wars. A little egdy is always nice.
And of course since this is a toy review blog, I am hoping to have some of those figures soon. As we all know, cartoons are made to sell toys. They already have the main characters ready to go, along with the Thunder Tank. I have seen some stuff about a larger playset. I think we will have to wait and see what is what as things get started here. But it looks promising.
