Now, I am not just a fan of DC. My first foray into the world of comics was courtesy of the fine folks at Marvel. To be more precise, it was an issue of Excalibur, right in the middle of the Cross-Time Caper. My heart was forever going to be Kitty Pride’s.
Here we are 20 some odd years later and I am still a fan of Marvel, but why can’t the toys and statues translate the same?
If you have ever read my blog, you would know I am a HUGE fan of the Ame-Comi line. I have nearly all of them, with only a few not catching my interest. On the other side was the attempt at Marvel to make their versions called: Bishoujo Statue by Kotobukiya.
At first they came out with Phoenix and Emma Frost:
These statues are well made and look okay, but there was something that was not there for me. I can’t really put my finger on what it was that was different from these than the Ame-Comi, they did not interest me… That is until last Friday.
On my way home I stopped by my favorite action figure and statue store and they had a new Bishoujo of Batgirl. Now Batgirl is right up there for me with Kitty Pride. Can’t beat a good Batgirl. Well, this one was a winner.
Stay tuned for a review of this statue. She is amazingly well made, and the sculpting might be the best I have ever seen. I got some new lighting for picture taking, so even more of the beauty will shine.
After seeing this figure, I am really excited for the next, Catwoman.
