Awesomeness for sure. Looks like Electric Tiki is bringing about at least one statue from the game. I mean, come on! Is there any better subject for ET to work on with their fantastic animated statues? I think not.

Wow, mom! Thanks! This was an amazing surprise of a gift for Christmas. I guess it pays to have a well read mother. She did not know how much I would like it though. I think I surprised her with how much I appreciate it.

This book is a hardback print of the entire Batman: Hush storyline. The “Unwrapped” part of the title is in reference to the art meting just the pencil work by the amazing Jim Lee. The work is beautiful all on its own. Can’t wait to sit down and read the story again for the first time.

It is going to be so convenient to blog with it. Also for reading. Can’t wait to get a book on here. And of course movies. I put the Netflix app on here first thing and started a movie to. See how good it looked…and it looks good.

He is getting there. A few busy days makes for slow work. I am amazed at how cool the design work is to allow parts to move.

So, head, upper torso, lower torso, and one arm complete. I have the other arm, both legs, and the weapons to go. Then the decals which I think will really bring this character to life.

There are a few really busy days coming up with family visiting for Christmas, but hopefully I can get some more done. I may have to steal away for a few hours in some family down time.

Skyhammer and Undertow:

Skyhammer:

Skyhammer is joined by his sidekick, Airlift.  It is clear to see that Skyhammer is a jet in his vehicle mode.  Kinda hard to hide that one.   There are some really nice transformations on him to get him looking his robot self.  The one problem I have with the design is his head.  It sits way up on top of his body, and looks like an additional piece, not like it is a part of him.  This could be due to the addition of the larger head part to form his “commander” body.

Airlift makes for a nice weapon.  A pair of gattling guns for arms makes for a tough sidekick.   It does look like his legs fold back, not really disguising his robot mode.

Oh my!  I cannot believe it!   A Decepticon that transforms into a jet?  Haha!   A favorite of the bad guys.  This is a nice jet.   A different design than most of the jets we see, but still a little nod to the classic G1 jets with the double tail.  There is a front landing gear which is nice for a little guy like this.  I do so hate the blue cubes that hang off the sides, but a necessary evil to make a Power Core Combiner.

And then there is Skyhammer with some extra firepower from Airlift.   Um, I don’t think this is very aerodynamic, but I am not going to be the one to tell that to Skyhammer.  Those Decepticons have bad tempers.

And then there is the whole reason for this line.  To make some giant robots.  He has a great transformation into his commander mode.   The wings fold up to make room for the drone arms,  The legs really work well too.     The best part is his face.  In the PCC line, there is usually a head change to a larger head for the big robot.   It is really hard to see, but there is a head covering that comes out and looks like a WWII helmet with goggles.

Undertow:

Undertow with Waterlog.  This does not look like a very likely team to me.  Waterlog has wings.  He looks like he would have been way more suited to the likes of Skyhammer.   And as for Undertow, he does not look like he needs much help with those giant guns under each arm.   The guns can swivel out of the way.

Waterlog folds up nice, making a double-barrel weapon of some sort.

Waterlog makes for a great Power Up chest plate.  Good protection for Undertow.

Undertow makes for a devastating weapons platform in his boat mode.  That is a lot of firepower.

Add in Waterlog, and you have a force to be reckoned with.  Waterlog does sit a bit high in this mode.

With an attachment of drones,  Waterlog as his armor, and the guns mounted on his shoulders, Undertow is really tough looking.    His head in this mode is also really cool, using the old school brass diving masks.  Nice touch.

These are two tough robots.   Again, the best commander robots come on their own.  I am looking forward to at least one more of the two coming out.  A pair of Autobots to fight these two if I am not mistaken.

I thought an SD (super deformed) Gundam model would be the best way to jump back into the hobby. It will not take for ever to build, and they are posable.

Today was a double-feature. Patlabor The Movie 1 and 2.

The first movie has a special place in my heart. It was one of the first anime I ever watched, and the first to feature mecha.

The art is getting pretty old looking, but as with most of the movies of this era, it is what makes them special.

One of the best things they did was to show computer graphics when they were interacting with the computer programs. Boy, the future of computers looks pretty tired. It was great for the time period, and the ironic thing is that the second movie takes place in 1999. Too bad, we are WAY past that and we still don’t have robots walking around. Boo! Ah well, something to look forward to in the future. For now, more movie watching. If you have not seen Patlabor before, check it out. And if you have, I bet it’s been a while. Enjoy!

Well, I watched today, and it does not disappoint.  The graphics are really good.  Better as the episodes go on.  There are some really dynamic action sequences, and since it is computer based, they were able to do some great camera work, and some awesome slow motion.

It is really interesting to see who they picked to be on the team.  Of course you have to have Optimus Prime.   He is the leader of all leaders, and had to be included.   Along with him is a fan favorite, Bumblebee.    Then we have Ratchet, the ever-present doctor.   Bulkhead makes the team from Transformers: Animated (giant mace fists included).  Rounding out the team is Arcee.  Taking the form of the movie version, as a motorcycle.

In all, a great team. I would loved to have seen more of Cliffjumper, but alas it was not meant to be.   I don’t want to give away too much, but let me say zombies.  Yup, Transformer Zombies.  And they actually did them justice.

I reviewed Bumblebee, Arcee, and Starscream, from the toy line, and really liked the figures.  After that, and now seeing the first of the show, I am REALLY excited to see the other figures.  It will be interesting to see if Optimus and Megatron are going to be coming out as the Deluxe figures, or if they will be coming out in the bigger scale.  These two are really big.

If you are like me, and don’t get The HUB, then this is a great way to see the show.  No commercial interruptions, and no having to fast forward through the opening sequence and end credits.  This was really well done.

So, the stores are crowded, the lines long, and the drivers are nuts. But the deals are out there, and occasionally there is a good find to be had. Remember, most of the people in the stores right now don’t know what they are looking at anyway. Watch for those diamonds in the rough.
